EMLA Encoder Error Guide

Some EMLA Encoder Errors may need some additional context to resolve. 

Error States

  • Warning - A non-critical message. Your stream is likely not negatively affected.
  • Set - Critical Alarm that needs immediate address. 
  • Active - New Critical Alarm. Please wait for additional information.
  • Cleared - This error has been resolved. Messages that are "Cleared" will disappear within 10 minutes of entering this state.

Channel Error Messages

MediaLive reports active alert(s)

  • Reason: a channel is experiencing an issue. 
  • Action: Locate the channel having the issue and view the alerts there.

No input timecodes detected

  • This is a Warning message, your stream is likely stable.
  • Reason: Your template is set to reference timecode in the input stream, but no timecode is present. For muxed streams, this will be a non-issue, but unmuxed streams could experience a/v sync drift.
  • Action: Adjust your template to use Zero-based or System clock timecode for the next stream.

Audio loudness is out of range. Check audio source.

  • This is a Warning message, your stream is likely stable.
  • Reason: Your source audio is operating outside of -24 LKFS loudness standards. This is a non-issue unless you are sending SRT to a TV network or distributor needing to adhere to LKFS standards.
  • Action: Check LKFS monitoring in the video signal before arriving at the encoder and adjust accordingly.

Input Probe is Taking Longer than Expected

  • Reason: The encoder was not able to detect an audio/video source on your input when the stream started. 
  • Action: Check your SDI input to validate it is connected, and check the cable for an active signal.

Video not found

  • Reason: The input can not detect video on your input.
  • Action: Check your SDI input to validate it is connected, and check the cable for an active signal.

Audio not found

  • Reason: The input can not detect audio on your input.
  • Action: Check your SDI input to validate it is connected, and check the cable for an active signal.

Muxer is taking a long time to connect to server

  • Reason: The stream key or credentials for your destination are invalid, and your destination is rejecting them.
  • Action: Stop your stream. Obtain a new stream key/credentials from your destination, or check your information and re-enter. Start a new stream.

Output delivery failure

  • Reason: The EMLA Encoder cannot reach your destination.
  • Action: Check your network connection, and check your destination to ensure that it is still online and operational. Make adjustments where needed.

ReliableTS Output not connected

  • Reason: The EMLA Encoder is unable to connect to the SRT destination. 
  • Action: Stop the stream. Check and verify your SRT address, port, passphrase and stream ID (if applicable). Make adjustments where needed and restart the stream.

Channel is inactive

  • Reason: Your streaming channel is either starting or ending.
  • Action: No action is needed. If your channel doesn't start or disappear within 2 minutes, please contact Sardius Support.

Cluster Error Messages

The OS and BIOS settings for SMPTE 2110 are invalid.

  • Reason: Your EMLA Encoder is SMPTE-2110 capable, but is not properly configured for SMPTE-2110 inputs.
  • Action: If you are not using SMPTE-2110 inputs, no action is needed. If you would like to clear this error, contact Sardius Support for additional guidance.

The node is offline

  • Reason: Your EMLA Encoder is either offline or has not established communication with the AWS service. 
  • Action: Make sure your encoder is powered, and the network cable is firmly connected to the network port indicated on your encoder's Quick Start Guide.
