Schedule Your Event in Advance on Facebook

Learn how to schedule your live events in advance to your Facebook Page using the Sardius Facebook API Output.

The Sardius Control Panel allows you to schedule events up to 7 days in advance to your Facebook Page. When this option is utilized, the Control Panel will:

  • Create an event post on your Facebook Page that your audience can like, comment on, and RSVP to
  • At the time of the event, Sardius will create a live stream on your Facebook Page for your followers to view
    • This feature is not compatible with Facebook Groups at this time. Scheduling only works with Facebook Pages.

Note: This feature is only available to clients using Sardius Stream or Advanced SimLive, and who connect to Facebook using the Facebook API Output. This feature is not available for standard RTMP outputs.

Set Your Facebook Output Defaults

We recommend that all Sardius Channels have a default configuration for their streaming workflows. Your channel may already have these defaults established and your Facebook Output already connected. We can alter these defaults to provide a default Facebook scheduling workflow.

Locate your channel and access it. Then click Stream on the sidebar.

Here, you'll see your channel's stream stepper settings

  • Click Edit Default Settings
  • In the stream stepper, Click Edit on your output, or Add Outputs

To set your Facebook scheduling defaults:

  • Click Edit Default Settings
  • In the stream stepper, Click Edit on your output, or Add Outputs
  • Select how many days in advance you would like your events to be scheduled on Facebook

  • Click Save and your settings will be saved and applied.

    • You will see the  calendar icon adjust with the scheduled days

Be aware that:

  • Outputs can only be scheduled up to 7 days in advance.
  • You can remove this schedule at any time without removing the output

Note: Any changes to your Channel's streaming defaults will not be applied to any event that is already scheduled on the Channel's calendar. This is a safety feature as to not accidentally override any event with its own custom settings.

Editing These Settings at the Event Level

You don't have to change your channel defaults to adjust these options for a specific event.
Every event has its own Streaming tab where you can override the channel defaults without affecting future events.

To edit Facebook settings for a single event:

  1. Open your event from the Event Calendar
  2. Click the Streaming tab
  3. Click Edit Default Settings
  4. Click on the Facebook Output card in the stream workflow
  5. Adjust the Schedule Event Output setting as needed
  6. Click Save

Note: Event-level settings only apply to that specific event. All other events on the channel will continue to use the channel defaults.

Customize the Event Name, Description, and Image

The Facebook Output allows for select event information to be forwarded from your Sardius Calendar to Facebook:

Item Supported on Facebook
Date & Time ✅ Yes
Title ✅ Yes
Description ✅ Yes
Image/Thumbnail ✅ Yes

To edit these fields:

  • Event Title — On your calendar, edit your event. On the Event Details tab, enter a new title and click Save.
  • Event Description — Edit your event. On the Event Details tab, scroll down to the Description box, enter a description which will display on FB, and click Save.
  • Event Image — Edit your event. On the Event Details tab, scroll down to the Event Image option. Click Upload Image and select your file. (Recommended size: 1500 x 844 px.) This image will also appear as your Facebook event image and will serve as your Archive Thumbnail once the event finishes.

Once the update is complete, you can visit your Facebook Page to see the event scheduled as an event post.

Warning: Any update to the event on the Sardius Calendar will overwrite your event information on Facebook. For example, if you customized your event title directly in Facebook's editor, a later update to the Sardius event will replace it with the Sardius title. Sardius will only update the fields shown in the table above.
