Makito Decoder Setup Checklist

Congratulations on selecting an Makito decoder for your facility. This checklist will guide you through the complete process of getting your Makito set up.

Start with this list and follow these items in order to properly setup your decoder. If you like, you can print this page or download this handy PDF.

RECOMMENDED: Network Planning
If your facility’s internal network is carefully structured, or has multiple LAN or WLAN levels, we strongly recommend completing this Network Planning portion.
  • Coordinate with your IT Department or Network Engineer to obtain the following:
  • Static IP for the decoder
  • Recommended Subnet, Gateway, and DNS settings
  • Review any Port Forwarding rules that need to be created with a Network Administrator

Unbox the Makito Decoder
  • Place the Makito in your production rack (or the location where it will be used)
  • Verify the Makito is at room temperature

Connect the cables
  • Connect an ethernet cable to the network port on the back of the Makito
  • Connect a 3G-SDI cable to the SDI cable output
  • If your Makito is a 2-channel or 4-channel unit, use one of the provided SDI to Micro SDI conversion cables to connect your SDI cable to the Makito
  • Continue connecting 3G-SDI cables to the Makito as desired for additional outputs
  • Store any unused converters in a secure location, or attach them to the remaining outputs on the back of the Makito
  • LAST: Plug your power cable(s) into the back of the decoder and then into your primary power source. We recommend that you plug this into an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that is powered by your facility’s primary power.

Access the Makito
  • Using a computer that is on the same network and subnet as the Makito, open a browser window.
  • Enter 10.5.1.2 into the address bar and hit enter

    • IP Address: 10.5.1.10
    • Subnet: 255.255.0.0
    • Gateway: 10.5.0.1
  • The computer might alert you that the connection is not private. Go ahead and proceed to the site.
