Event Timeline - Pre-Event State (Slate)
Your Pre-Event State is the page that the audience will see prior to the event being live. If you decide to not use the Break State for your Channel, the Pre-Event State will show in between scheduled events on your channel.
As you begin to customize your layout, you will see your changes appear in the Channel Preview window. Use the Event Timeline to show the Pre Event State in the preview window. This is on a timer that will automatically advance after 20 minutes to the Live State. You can easily change between the different states at any time.
The Pre-Event State affects the upper portion of the Channel layout as shown below.
To begin designing your Pre-Event State, click on Features to access the Event Timeline Features section.
Next, select "Pre" to begin configuring the event state.
You could add either an image or a video asset in the Player for this state. An image or video could be used to further promote your upcoming stream, or advertise other upcoming events (should this Channel be used for recurring stream events).
Pre Background Image
When you upload an image here, it will fill the entire space shown above. Uploading an image of any kind here will remove the geometric designs from the top portion of the channel.
- To upload an image, click on the "Upload image" button.
- Select an available image from your library and click Add Image, or
- Click the "Upload" tab to upload an image from your computer.
To remove the image you assigned, click on the X next to the image name.
Pre Event Image
When you upload an image here, it appears beneath the Title and above the Player and Countdown. If you have a background image uploaded, this will show over top.
- To upload an image, click on the "Upload image" button.
- Select an available image from your library and click Add Image, or
- Click the "Upload" tab to upload an image from your computer.
To remove the image you assigned, click on the X next to the image name.
Helpful Tip: We recommend the Pre Event image to be no bigger than 1920x1080, or at a 16:9 ratio for best performance.
Pre Event Asset
You can add an asset to be viewed while the Channel is showing in the Pre Event state. This asset can be one that was previously uploaded to your library, or it can be from a YouTube or Vimeo embed.
By default this player is disabled. Once you add an asset or embed to the player, it will show in the preview and on your Channel.
To add an asset already in your Sardius Control Panel library:
- Click on Pick Asset
- Search for your asset in your library
- Click on your desired asset to load it into the player.
To use an advanced method, such as a YouTube or Vimeo embed:
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Select your asset type from the list.
- Follow the specific steps for the method you chose.
To remove any asset you assigned, click on the trash can next to the asset name.
Player Behaviors
If your selected asset is one that was uploaded to your account, you can enable Asset Auto Play every time the Channel loads for a viewer. By default, this is enabled. To disable Auto Play, simply toggle this option off.
By default, Asset Loop is set to "off." If you would like your Pre-Event asset to play in a continuous loop for your viewers, toggle this switch to "on."
Title Under Player
You can set a custom title to greet your audience when they arrive to your Channel. To change the title, simply replace the text as seen in the box.
Description Under Title
Need to explain to your viewers what your Channel is for, or do you wish to communicate some sort of important message? You can do so using the description under the title. This selection allows you to use basic HTML tags such as bold, italic, hyperlinks, and paragraph spacing in order to format this for your liking.
To edit this section, click on "Modify HTML" and then enter your text and basic HTML code into the modal that appears.
Countdown Text
The Slate layout will always present a countdown to the next event while in the Pre Event State. You can customize the heading that appears above the countdown by changing the text in the "Countdown Text" field.
The countdown will register the amount of time remaining before the next live stream scheduled within your Event Window.
If you selected "Recurring events" when creating a channel, then your channel's event window will default to 7 days. If this is the case, and you have more than 7 days between events, the countdown will not show until you are 7 days away from your event. If you have the "Post" state enabled for this layout, the Post will also be shown until the countdown is triggered.
Pre State Format
In the event that you want to temporarily remove the player without deleting the asset that's stored in the player, you can change this dropdown from "countdownAndVideo" to just "countdown."
Once you have finished customizing this section, click "Update" at the bottom of the page to commit all of your changes. You also have the option to undo all changes you've made to the layout since the last update.
