VOD Transcriptions
This is a premium feature. To learn more about adding this to your account, speak to your Sardius Account Manager.
Our VOD Transcriptions and Translations tool allows you to generate a complete transcript for an asset, and translate it into multiple languages. In addition, our system will also suggest tags, topics, and a description for the asset that you can easily assign to the asset's metadata.
Create a Transcript
To begin, we will need to create a transcript for your asset.
Navigate to your Assets Library, and then locate the asset you'd like to generate a transcript for.
Click on the Transcription Tab. Then, to generate a transcript, click on "Run Transcription."
By default, the "Create Transcript and Subtitle" option will be selected and cannot be unselected. You have the option at this stage to create translations, generate metadata recommendations, and search for reference scriptures. These options can be generated later, so you do not have to select them now.
Make your selection(s) and then click "Transcribe"
Our system will go to work in the background. You are welcome to leave the page and the Control Panel and return. Typically, our system will process 1 hour of audio in 10 minutes.
If you leave the window open, you will see a progress bar.
When complete, our system will let you know when you return to the individual asset.
Note: Our transcriptions work best on assets that are under 5 hours long. If your asset is over 5 hours long, please consider splitting (clipping) the asset into shorter versions and then running the transcriptions for each asset.
Under the heading "Transcript and Subtitle" you will see the complete transcript as a JSON. If you would like to view it, you can click on the Clipboard icon beside the JSON, and then open that URL in a new tab.
An english.vtt file will also be available. This will be an auto-generated caption file that will appear under the Closed Captioning (CC) button in the player.
Translations
A full list of supported languages is available in this article: Supported Languages
If you did not generate any translations when you generated your transcript, you can do so now. To generate a new translation, click on "Add Translation."
From the dropdown, select the languages you would like to translate into. Then select "Run Translation."
Our system will go to work in the background. You are welcome to leave the page and the Control Panel and return.
When the process is complete, you will see the languages under "Translations." Each of these will be an individual vtt file, which you can access by clicking on the Clipboard icon and then opening in a new tab.
Review Metadata Recommendations
Generated Summary
Our system, using the transcript we generated, will produce a suggested summary for your asset that you can use as the asset's description in the metadata. If you would like to use this summary, click on "Update Asset Description." You can also make edits to the generated summary before adding the new description.
Keyword & Topics
Here you can review our suggestions for keywords and topics. Select any of these that you wish to add. You can also click the arrow next to one of these suggestions and make an edit. Then click "Add to metadata"
A modal will appear, and you can confirm any selected words you wish to add to your asset. Under the "Metadata field," select your desired Metadata field to add these keywords to your asset. You can also choose whether to add these keywords to your asset (handy for if you already have entries in this field), or you can overwrite all data in these fields with the new selections.
Once you have made your selections and decisions, click "Save."
Additional AI Options - Reference Scriptures
If your asset contains a speaker who is quoting or referencing Scripture verses, our system can detect these within your transcript. Once found, you will have the option to select the Scriptures and passages you'd like to add to your metadata.
Simply select the unassigned Scriptures, and then select "Add to metadata."
A modal will appear, and you will have the option to select your desired Metadata field (tags, topics, or existing custom field), to apply these Scriptures to. Once you are ready, click Save.
Click Update to finalize changes.
