Recommended Encoder Settings
For the uninitiated, the settings on an encoder can be very intimidating. For best practices, Sardius recommends using the below settings.
RTMPS
- Resolution: 1920x1080
- Frame Rate: Match your camera and/or video switcher frame rate.
-
Video Bitrate: This will vary based on your frame rate.
-

-
50-60 fps: 6Mbps - 8Mbps
-
- GOP Size: 3-4 seconds
- Video Codec: H264

For those using Sardius Stream to send to Facebook or YouTube, please review their bitrate and segment duration requirements. If your stream is using a bitrate or duration that doesn't comply with their recommendations, then you may experience issues.

-
50-60 fps: 6Mbps - 8Mbps

- Passphrase: We recommend all streams use a passphrase and be encrypted at AES-256.
- Stream ID: We require streamId when sending SRT to Sardius Stream. If your encoder does not support these, please reach out to support.
For those using SRT with a Makito Encoder, your GOP size determines your segment duration. To accurately calculate your GOP size, do the following calculation: segment size * frame rate. Example, if your frame rate is 25 and you want a 4 second segment size, you would do 25 * 4 which would be a 100 GOP.
