Pair a Makito Encoder

IMPORTANT: Please make sure your encoder is up to date with the latest Firmware build before pairing to Sardius.

Helpful Tip: Please make sure your encoder is previously disconnected from other services prior to pairing with Sardius Control Panel.

Before powering up the Makito for the first time, please do the following:

  1. Unbox the Makito and place it in your production rack (or location where it will be used)
  2. Connect an SDI video signal to the Makito
  3. Connect a CAT-5 Network cable into the "Network" port
  4. Verify that the unit is at room temperature
  5. DO THIS LAST! Plug in the power cable. The Makito will automatically begin to power up.

 

To configure the Makito, you will need:

  • A computer that is on the same network and subnet as the Makito in order to access the Makito UI.
  • A separate window/tab on that same computer that is logged into the Sardius Control Panel.

Note: Prior to pairing your Makito with Sardius, please contact Sardius Support to make sure your channel(s) are configured for using a Makito.

Walkthrough  

1.  Log into your Sardius Control Panel

2. To pair an encoder, click the category titled Devices. This can be found just below the halfway point on the black, left sidebar.

3. To pair a device, click the blue button that says + Add Device. This is found in the top right corner of the window at all times. If no device is currently paired (as in the photo above), the center of the screen will also have this button prominently displayed.

4.  Sign into your Haivision Makito encoder.

5. Once inside your Makito device, click the cog icon in the blue banner at the top to access the Administration area of the encoder (see picture below).

6. Return to the Sardius Control Panel. Within the Device setup modal, click the button that says Copy pairing code

7. Back in the Makito Administration screen, click Services from the left menu, then the little “crossed tools” icon at the bottom of the toggle list, behind the one labeled Haivision EMS. Once the modal pops up, paste the pairing code in the large text box labeled Passcode. The Address and Port fields will auto-populate as needed. At the bottom of the screen, click the Pair button.

Helpful Tip: If the encoder is still paired to a previous service, the Pair button will say Unpair. Please make sure the encoder is unpaired prior to pairing to Sardius Control Panel.

8. In the Sardius Control Panel, finish the pairing by clicking the button in the bottom right of the modal: Check for Device

Congratulations! Your Makito has been successfully paired to your account.
