Exporting Chat Data
Our interactive Chat feature has an export function that allows you to download any Chat experience from a specific channel via a CSV report. The exported reports will contain raw data such as:
- Total Sentiment (emoji) reactions, including who posted specific reactions
- Record of specific messages that were posted, including who posted and when
- Poll responses and totals
- Direct Message logs
Note: Only users who have been assigned an owner, admin, or a custom role that includes Channel & Experience Settings for the specific Channel will be able to export the chat data. For more information on creating and assigning roles, please reference How to Create, Edit, or Delete a Role.
To export Chat data from a specific Channel:
1. Locate your desired Channel under the Experiences section in the left sidebar.
2. At the bottom of that channel's card, select the Cog Wheel to access that Channel's settings.
3. Click on Channel Settings on the left sidebar.
4. Click on the Chat Rooms tab on the top of the screen.
Helpful Tip: If you have multiple Chat Rooms enabled for your event, you will then need to select which Chat Room you want to export data from.
5. Click on the Title of the Chat Room
6. Click on Export Chat Data
7. From here, you will need to:
- Give your export a name
- Select a specific Event from the dropdown menu, OR
- Select a Date/Time range to export a larger amount of data from the designated Chat Room
Helpful Tip: If you want to export more than one calendar event for a specific Chat Room, we recommend utilizing the Date/Time filter option.
8. Once you've made your selections, click on the Create Export button. This will produce all available files from Chat (including Chat/DMs/Poll results/Poll details, etc).
9. Scroll down to the Previous Exports section and you will see your new Export generated there.
10. You can download each portion of the Chat data by clicking on the respective button. For instance, to view all of the poll responses, click on the "Response Poll" button.
Note: Chat exports will be available for up to 4 weeks after the date which they were created. If you need to reference data after that time and have not downloaded the original report, you will need to generate a new report to see the info.
