# 8. Set Up Stream Defaults

**Video**

> **Transcript:** In this video, we're going to bring it all together, creating a full streaming configuration for your channel. This is where your live stream comes to life. We call this process “Creating Default Stream Settings.” Let's begin by reviewing our streaming workflow. I want to set up a high quality 8 megabits per second playback for my web player. I also want to send this stream to Facebook and YouTube, but at a lower quality 6 megabits per second. So let's set this up. We'll start by accessing the channel we created in the last video. Hover over the center of the channel card and select the Go to Calendar button. Next, select stream on the sidebar. If streaming isn't enabled yet, click Enable Streaming. This unlocks the full configuration options. Once ready, click setup to begin. Step one choose your source. Here we'll select our input type and that will be either a paired device which is recommended for full automation. manual for unpaired encoders like OBS or a PTZ camera, and then link to asset for external sources like another platform feeding in. For this demo, we're going to use a paired device. Step 2: We'll select our paired EMLA encoder from the list. And if it has multiple inputs like our example, we'll specify which input to use for this configuration. I'm going to select input one. Now that we have our device we're going to add our outputs and apply templates depending on your paired device. You could see one or more services already present because we are using an EMLA encoder. I can select between Sardius Stream or Sardius Entrypoint. I can also choose to use both, which I will do for this video, because I want my web player to have a higher quality than what I'm sending to my social media accounts. Starting a stream is currently enabled, but Entrypoint is not. So I'll enable this entry point by clicking the toggle, and then I'll edit the service to select it as my default live stream. I'll also add my eight megabit high quality template. Next, I'll adjust Sardius Stream to use my lower quality 6 megabit per second template, and then I'll add both Facebook and YouTube as outputs from Sardius Stream. By using these outputs, I won't have to create the streams on both social media accounts because Sardius will do that for me. My final step will be to review and save. Double check everything sources, outputs, templates and your default stream. Then hit save. The configuration is now active and ready for your events. With this setup, your paired encoder can automatically start and stop based on schedule events. push streams of differing quality to multiple platforms simultaneously, and save a recording of the live stream to My Assets library. And that's it. You've now created a powerful, flexible streaming configuration. This is just one of many combinations. Instead of a paired device, you can set up a manual RTMP or SRT source to send the signal in from a different encoder, like a PTZ camera or OBS. Or use the Linked Asset service to bring in an external HLS stream like Akamai or Resi. The SimLive Service isn't available at the default settings level, but it will appear when setting up individual events. This concludes the core streaming setup in the Sardius platform. In our next video, we'll create our first live stream. if you have any questions or would like personalized guidance on your setup, please reach out to your account manager or Sardius Support. We are always happy to help.

In this video, we’re going to bring it all together: creating a full streaming configuration for your Channel. This is where your live stream comes to life—pushing from your encoder through Sardius to Facebook, YouTube, your web player, and more.
