# 2-5. Overview of the Player-Only Layout

**Video**

> **Transcript:** The player-only layout is popular with clients who want to embed a Sardius player into an external website or app. In this video we will review how to customize the player only layout for your organization. To customize your layout, first access your Channel Settings, and then select. Customize Channel. The customized channel section has three sections in two columns. The first column is for Experience Options where you can customize the appearance of your layout. The second column is the Channel Preview. On the top of this column is the preview timeline. You can use this timeline to see a preview of each state for your channel. Let's focus on the settings column. This is divided into two sections: Event Timeline Features and Layout Features. Under Event Timeline Features, you can customize the four events states: pre, live, break, and post. In the pre state, you can set a background image for the player. Our players show a countdown timer for the next live event. You can toggle this off or on here. And you can also add some custom text for your upcoming sessions. In the live state, you can customize the asset connected to your channel player. Normally, this asset is what we call the channel stream asset. If you haven't named this channel stream in your assets. The name here will match the site name in your channel's URL. In the break state, we don't present any options. This is a feature that's used in other layouts. In the post state, we have the same options that we did in the pre state. This post will only appear if there are no future events in your calendar. Next, let's move on to the Layout Features section. Under Common, we can choose to enable overlays for the player, which is the ability to insert graphics and links into the player while your stream is live. You can also enable active sessions, This is for if we want to limit the number of active sessions or devices for logged in users. Typically, users won't log in to this player so this can be left disabled. Finally, you can enable player autoplay so that the live player will automatically start when the viewer accesses it. Under Colors, we can set the background color and font color for the player. This concludes our tour of the player-only channel layout. For a look at our other layouts, such as Slate and Collection, those videos are available in our knowledge base. We'll see you in the next video.

In this video, we will present an overview of the Player-Only layout for a Sardius Channel. You will learn how to customize the look and feel of this layout through 3 different event states.
