# 2-1. Adding Bios for Speakers, Keynote, and Artists

**Video**

> **Transcript:** Bios are an excellent way of communicating to your audience who a person is such as a speaker for a conference or someone being interviewed in a video. In this video, we're going to add a Bio to our account and attach that bio to a channel and an asset. We'll start with creating the Bio inside our metadata engine. Locate Bios near the bottom of our sidebar. Our Bios library will appear with all the bios currently stored in our system. Click Add Bio in the upper right corner. In the model that appears, enter a first name, last name a short description of the person and any titles that person might have. Once you're done, click Add Bio. Now let's edit this new bio and add some more information. Let's start with uploading a photo for our bio. Clicking on Upload Image opens our image gallery. You can select from a previously uploaded image or you can upload an image from your computer. You'll notice that you can't edit the first and last name, but you can change the display name. We can also add some preset types to our system. Such as worship leader, speaker, author, etc. We can add a longer description for our bio. The short description is used in select layouts such as the Collection library, whereas the longer description is used in modal pop ups on the Slate and other event layouts. You can also add a location such as the person's current hometown or place of operation. You can also add the name of their company or organization, If this person has their own website or social media accounts that they want to share, you can add links to the bio using the Add Link button. Here we can add a link title, a type such as Facebook, podcasts, TikTok, etc. We can also add a thumbnail for the link if you want the custom thumbnail. And finally we can add the URL for the link. if you're using a custom site layout that will be translated into other languages, you can add a locale for that layout and enter in a pre-translated version of the bio. When you are finished, click Save Changes. Congratulations. Your bio is now ready to be used throughout our system. Next, let's add this bio to our channel. In this example, our event is for a conference and we want our audience to get to know who will be speaking. Locate your channel and select customize channel. We'll select features under default experience. In the sidebar, we'll locate Speakers. To add a bio to your channel, locate the speakers list field, then select any of the names shown in the dropdown. Remember that in order to add a bio to your channel, you must have first added it to your Bios library. Once the name is selected, you'll see the speaker show up in the preview section. We can also organize multiple speakers as needed. Well, let's also say that for this conference we have three sessions, each with its own speaker. When that speaker’s session is active, we just want to see that speaker's bio. Let's set this up by going to our event calendar, and then editing the session’s event. On the Event Details page. We can choose the bio type and then select the speaker's bio. Let's click Save. When the event goes live, we'll see the bio directly under the channel player. Now let's add a bio to an asset. Locate your asset, and then select the metadata tab. Scroll down to the people section and you can see all the different fields you can add a bio to. Let's add our bio to Speakers and click Update. Let's see this in action. We have a channel with the Collections layout enabled We'll navigate to our video and here's our bio right underneath our title. And that's it! Congratulations! can now add bios to your account and assign them in channels and assets. We'll see you in the next video.

In this video, you will learn how to create a bio for talent featured in your live stream and on-demand content. You will also learn how to assign that bio to an asset, a channel, and a live event.
